Come and Take It 5K Run/Walk
Start your Saturday with movement and history at Independence Park. The annual Come & Take It 5K Run/Walk invites runners and walkers of all ages to hit the pavement where Texas independence first took root.
Come and Take It Memorial Golf Tournament
This beloved annual tournament honors the memory of Lt. Col. Kenneth McGinty, Lt. Col. Robert Scheske, and J.R. Ryan, and benefits the Tommy Chenault and Kenny McGinty Scholarships. Teams of two will compete for prizes: $600 for 1st place, $400 for 2nd, $300 for 3rd, and $200 for 4th. The tournament is limited to the first 36 teams registered.
Canoe Race
Racers can tackle this 13-mile downriver challenge on the Guadalupe, beginning just below the H-5 dam at Lake Wood Park and finishing at Santa Anna’s Ford, near the US 183 bridge in Independence Park.
Come and Take It Parade
The Come and Take It Parade features marching bands, dance teams, historic vehicles, horseback riders, local clubs and nonprofits, businesses, political candidates, youth groups, and a whole lineup of decorated floats and themed entries.
